A very wide takouba almost certainly for ceremonial purposes. The steel of the blade is European and repurposed, a worn stamp is visible that appears to be J&S. These wide blades have sometimes repurposed European tools such as saws and this may be a similar case. Almost certainly this example is from Nigeria during the British colonial period.
The pommel is of a transitional form showing some stacks but is still somewhat oval.
