19th or early 20th century - ethnic origin unknown but quite possibly Fulani

Comments

A very nice curved takouba from Cameroon. The hilt wrapping matches that seen on a Cameroon takouba in “Waffen aus Zentralafrika” and the design is quite probably the result of takouba design reaching these regions via the Bornu empire and the Fulani jihad coupled with military grade European sabre blades that were present due to colonial activities.

This particular blade is native made and the pommel has a particularly elegant pommel stack.
