20th or 21st century - Tuareg (purchased in Fez, Morocco), blade older
Comments
A nice example of recent mounts on an older blade. The blade shows clear signs of use with a tip exhibiting the usual profile due to sharpening. Marked with the dukari half moons it is difficult to say from the photos available whether or not there is a case for it being a European import, but it is a possibility. The hilt fittings are well made with attractive end caps and decorative elements in brass, the pommel with the usual stacked elements.
The scabbard is also very well done, showing a high level of workmanship on the leather and much finer fittings than many modern swords, particularly the brass baldric rings.
