Comments

This attractive wide bladed takouba is part of a grouping already detailed within this website. Featuring ornate brass hilts and wide blades without adornment or fullering, these seem to have been carried by palace dignitaries, guards for emirs and others within ceremonial or palace positions.

The blades are typically fairly flexible with a pronounced taper, the hilts follow the usual method of construction and share the same decorative elements as other Hausa or Nupe work.
