Turn of the century likely - Tuareg.

Comments

An attractive turn of the century Tuareg sword with a high quality blade, most likely native made. The usual wear and signs of use are visible around the tip.

The half hilt of brass may indicate a southern Tuareg attribution from the regions closer to Hausa settlements like Zinder and Katsina where entirely brass hilted takouba were more common.

The scabbard retains a beautifully worked throat. Overall a classic sword in excellent condition.
