19th century - likely Hausa, Nupe or Cameroon border region

Another wide bladed takouba - this one features a riveted base to the blade and a brass element on the blade. This style seems to be associated with palace guards/officials in Hausa and similar societies.

A similar blade profile with rivets can be seen on a takouba in “Waffen aus Zentralafrika” from North Cameroon.

This particular example has a nice full brass hilt and is very triangular in blade profile - being overall quite short. For more on this style of takouba see Takouba 16 and Takouba 42 which has comments reflecting the latest findings and ideas on these swords.
