20th century - Tuareg

Comments

This is a common 20th century takouba, exhibiting a native blade, likely from scrap steel. The fullers are roughly chiseled in with imitations of the half moon stamps also in place. The hilt is typical of modern takouba, with a leather covered hilt and a stacked pommel.

The scabbard is in nice condition and features brass triangular suspension fittings, which indicates a bit more age than the most recent swords which tend to have white metal or aluminium suspensions.
