Attribution

Collected by previous owner in 1977 in Cameroon from Fulani nomad. Blade likely much older, possibly 19th century.

Comments

Solid brass hilt which mimics typical Tuareg hilts. Triangular pommel and heavy decoration on hilt with extensive linework on presentation (outwards) side of guard. Minor damage on pommel exposes tang.

Blade is single edged with very thick spine. Large and deep single fuller extends two thirds of the blade. Overall piece is sturdy, with excellent balance. Surely a formidable weapon from camel or horseback.
